In 1883 Lewis Poirier, a French Canadian, homesteaded a piece of land in the valley where Blancahrd, Idaho, is now located. Shortly after Mr. Poirier's arrival other homesteaders and squatters arrived. As more people settled the community became known as White, Idaho and a United States Post Office was established here in 1900.
The name Blanchard was chosen in honor of a pioneer named Blanchard who had homesteaded on a near-by creek, which became known as Blanchard Creek. In 1908, due to the fact that this creek ran through the little settllement, which paralleled the new railroad line, White, Idaho, was changed to become known as Blanchard, Idaho.
The little valley has made vast improvements since the 1800's, when it was home for two friendly indian tribes and pioneer homesteaders.
In April 2001, Bridge Partners, Inc., located in Salt Lake City, Utah, purchased Stoneridge, a 650-acre development exclusive of the timeshare resort and privately owned home sites in Blanchard.
