  Apache Stronghold Golf Club

According to legend, Apache Stronghold was created by the god Usen as a region abundant with everything the Apache people would need to survive. Guarded by the Chiricahuas, Aravaipas, Superstition and White Mountains, the Stronghold was a mystical haven in which the Apaches could walk invisibly among their enemies. Now this virtually untouched area is open to the public

Apache Stronghold Golf Club conjures up visions of the rugged West with its very name, and lives up to these visions in its design. Unlike the desert courses of the Valley of the Sun, it will never be spoiled by development, as it is owned and operated by the San Carlos Apache Tribe as an adjunct to their casino. Designed by Tom Doak, the course was named one of the top 10 new public courses by Golf Magazine

The natural lay of the land was so conducive to golf that little earth had to be moved during construction. Doak remarks,

The strategic 325-yard par-4 Number 6 offers the brave golfer a chance to drive the green, while providing the faint of heart ample room to play to the undulating fairway. Only the most precise shots will be rewarded, as the 6th green is subtly shaped with artful bunkers blending the desert with the course. The back nine at Apache Stronghold makes full use of the varying contours of the land. This is nowhere more evident than at the dowhill dogleg par-5 Number 15. Panoramic views of the forested Pinal Mountains are but one of the many sights from this tee. The hole cascades downhill with each of its five tee boxes positioned on the slope. More dazzling bunkers protect this huge green. Ranging in length from 6,077 yards to 7,519 yards, Apache Stronghold presents a multitude of options to its guests. The immaculate condition of the course
