Untitled Document 5 Sure-Fire Ways to Build a More Powerful and Pain-FREE Golf Game

Until recently being physically fit was of little concern to most golfers, but the tides of change have taken hold of the golf world and only the strong will survive. Many of today's golfers not only work with instructors to fine-tune their golf skills, but also seek assistance from strength and conditioning coaches or personal trainers to help them improve their physical skills and avoid pain or injury.

All athletes benefit from strengthening certain core areas of their bodies. And golfers are no exception. The golf swing is a complex movement. A successful golf shot requires flexibility, strength, and power in five core areas. To be proficient and powerful, a golfer must have the following traits:

1. Trunk Flexibility - Allows the golfer to rotate maximally during the back swing while at the same time keeping the hips/pelvis "quiet".

2. Trunk Strength - Produces large amounts of power as long as the swing mechanics are on cue. Keep in mind that it is necessary to build adequate amounts of flexibility before moving on to building strength.

3. Hip Strength - Enables the golfer to make a successful transition from lateral movement to powerful rotation of the pelvis at the point of impact.

4. Spinal Stability - Allows the golfer to have a consistent set-up for his golf shot and prevents possible back injury due to fatigue.

5. Wrist Strength/Endurance - Allows the golfer to establish and maintain a successful wrist set-up.

Golfers who, in addition to enhancing their golf skills, consistently work on these five core areas to improve their physical skills will not only experience a pain-free and more powerful golf game, they will also be on the right path to shooting lower scores. Enjoy!
