GOLF GRIP

You get what you get and you should have got what you got. The problem is
you don¹t like what you got and want something else. Since we don¹t know
why we got what we got we¹re willing to try ³STUFF².
³STUFF² can be defined as information gathered from varying sources. It may
include ³Quick Tips² found in golf magazines, knowledge gained form the Golf
Channel, opinions gathered from fellow playing companions, or even
perceptions from friends, relatives or spouses.

Example:
The way we place our hands on the golf club is of utmost importance as your
³grip² highly influences the clubface position that will occur at impact. If
we grip it too weak, the clubface will naturally return to the impact
position open. If we grip it too strong, the clubface will naturally return
to impact closed.

Since more golfers grip it on the strong side, let¹s look at a strong grip
and its influence deeper:

A strong grip will naturally return the clubface to a closed position at
impact. The resultant golf shot will be a hook where the ball will end up
to the left of the target. The player responsible for the golf shot doesn¹t
understand why his ball went to the left, nor does he understand that it
should have gone where it went. All he understands is that he doesn¹t like
left and wants something else. Since he doesn¹t understand the influence or
value of the grip, his objective is to get something else from a wrong
starting point. With the strong grip, some of the available options are as
follows:

Lean in - slide - hang on - block out - don¹t release - reverse pivot - spin
out - aim right - invent-a-move, etc.

Fellow playing companions see your unique moves and tend to critique what
they see you doing. Neither you nor they realize that you¹ve developed your
moves based upon need, and that you are like you are because you need to be
like you need to be to not go left (with your incorrect strong grip).
Neither you nor they realize that you NEED your unique Œinnovative¹ in-swing
corrective measures because you started in the wrong place and the negative
influence was pre-set...

So... We are like we are because we need to be like we need to be to get
something other than what we should have got...
It is no wonder that all Golf Professionals agree - If one wants to learn a
golf swing, a proper grip is critical. Please see any of our PGA or LPGA
golf instructors at the Kent Chase Golf Academy at The Raven Golf Club.
